Located around a half an hour drive south west of Rapid City, near the town of Keystone, is the US National Memorial of Mount Rushmore. The faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln have been carved out of the granite between 1927 and 1941.
